Everyone has a story. There is a background to every human being that shapes and colors their world. Hearing about where someone grew up and what their families were like is both fascinating and eye opening. In a culture where people are comfortable being superficial, painting the best pictures of ourselves and our families gives such a false sense of what we’re really like. How we all crave intimacy, yet are afraid to make the first move. Our stories should be genuine, not artificially created. Some of my closest friends are those that absolutely cannot stand small talk, and need to talk about what’s real. Once we get real, it can certainly get messy, but it’s so worth it in the end to know and be known.
