What is truth? It is irrefutable. Some truths are self evident, that all men are created equal is probably the one that comes to mind most readily. As humans, we all believe that what we believe is the truth and often there is no gray. Lately, it seems that differing opinions have become polarizing, creating spited enemies out of opposite spectrum thinkers. How did we become so radicalized on both sides? The Civil War caused brothers to fight against each other, and sadly this seems to be the simmering underbelly of our sociological climate right now.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Those words, even after 2000+ years, still cause peoples’ backs to stiffen. That is a seriously bold statement that draws a very distinct line. This same Jesus said that the entire Gospel could be summed up in two commandments: First, love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. No amount of disagreement should cause us to hate.
I will admit, this one took probably 10 minutes to write!
