Day 12/31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes 2017: WRITE

Day 12

Awake in the middle of the night with a stream of thoughts repeating in my mind

I have to write it down or it will all be lost once the sun is up

reaching for my phone and pecking out the words to a glowing screen

under the covers so as not to wake my sleeping husband.

Journaling with a smooth ink pen while emotions are high

feelings translate into words and pour out through my hand onto paper

in a matter of moments until the well is dry.

Sitting with my laptop open

perseverating over one word and how to relate to it

when an idea appears and my fingers must keep up over the keys.

These are the ways I write.

About miccahmarie

I got my first Diary when I was 10. I couldn't wait to write in it at night to divulge all of the details of my day onto paper with my turquoise pen. I now find that writing has become therapeutic for me. I need time to think and sort out what is going on inside and often when I'm most emotionally heightened is when I write most creatively. My years of journaling are a compilation of written out prayers as well as lamenting poems. Now as a wife and mother, my perspectives have changed, as I reflect on who I was and who God is making me to be.

  2. Oh, Miccah, how I relate to the middle of the night need to get words out of your head. Your descriptions of each method of writing speak so loudly. Keep writing, keep creating. Oh and it looks like I am following your blog. Do you have an email sign up?
